This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on multiple technologies at Nortel as a Engineering Change Writer / Design Services prime. Strong interpersonal and multi-tasking skills are a strong requirement for this role as you will be dealing with a number of existing team members to help introduce their Design changes to the manufacturing environment. The ability to acquire all applicable design change information, maintain a self-development mode to enhance knowledge of design tools, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are all important to ensure success. Finally, a working knowledge of MatrixOne would be beneficial.
Responsibilities include:
- Interface with the Nortel Change Management team on ECs you have written
- Impact analysis on EC requests
- Work with the Design team to collate all files and documents required by for ECNs
- Write ECNs for the Design team, including KIL, prototype build, document release, and design change
- Work with the Change Management group to improve the change management processes
- Devise and implement effective strategies for the introduction of Engineering Changes which address project and business needs
- Interface between design and the manufacturing teams, to facilitate the EC introduction
Experience/Qualifications:
1) Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential. Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential..
2) Experience with appropriate Engineering Change management tools. MatrixOne experience beneficial
3) Engineering Degree or Diploma

LTE (Long Term Evolution), an evolution of the GSM/UMTS family, specifies the next generation mobile broadband access system, which will enable Operators to offer wireless broadband services at affordable costs while providing enhanced performance and capacity over current 3G wireless networks.
LTE NMS is the OAM solution for Nortel 4G LTE access network, which provides the functional areas of the following OAM domains: Configuration & State management; Performance Management; Log Management; Fault Management; Test Management.
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for LTE NMS development in each release. Major deliverables include High Level Design, Detail Design, Code, Design Testing, Design Integration, etc.
- Work with Product Line Management team and Architect on analyzing functional requirements and design solution creatively
- Provide development estimates for release planning and project planning.
- Implement and unit test software components.
- Work with multiple site architects, release tech leads, domain leads, feature primes toward release deliverables.
- Be committed to the quality delivery of OAM products doing whatever it takes.
- Provide support of developed products through out the release cycle, including customer site case support.
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Strong Java/Shell script programming skills & experience.
- Profound OOAD knowledge and the s/w development process.
- Familiar with the development environment on Solaris platform.
- Experience in all deliverables in software development process from high level design, functional spec, detail design, coding, and unit test plan.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good English language comprehension in both oral and writing.
- Appropriate interpersonal skills to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Nortel OAM platform
- UML development tool experience (Rational Rose for example)

Reporting to the Design Cost Reduction IPTL (Integrated Project Team Leader), this role will give you the opportunity to influence the profitability and competitiveness of Nortel's portfolio by leading a cross-functional core team (PLM, Marketing, Service Introduction, Operations, and Design) to successfully deliver Design Cost Reduction projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
- Working with your Cross-Functional Core Team, create project plans to delivery Cost Reduction initiatives. These plans will include details and agreements on scope, schedules, funding and resource requirements.
- As Project Leader, you will be accountable for achieving project objectives and delivering the targeted design cost reduction into Nortel's portfolio.
- Negotiate project deliverables with functional resource managers ensuring projects are appropriately staffed.
- Drive risk assessment and mitigation strategies as required.
- Define and obtain required deliverables from OEM vendors.
- Provided project leadership to development teams on all phases of the projects.
- Establish and maintain effective project communication plans. This will include regular status updates to Sr. Management.
- Establishing and working with various organizations within Nortel to not only deliver project commitments but to also generate future CR opportunities.
EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering is preferred
- Work experience should include +5 years of relevant experience (Project Management).
- Experience in HW and/or SW design would be considered an asset.

Design Engineers are required to participate in a group of Board and FPGA engineers in the design and support of hardware for Nortel's Multi-Service Passport 15K/7K (MSS) product within the Carrier Services Edge (SE) division.
Primary responsibilities of this position include working within a group of hardware design engineers providing sustaining and cost reduction support of new and existing hardware for the Passport 15K/7K Product Portfolio. The role includes the design and debug, supporting both manufacturing and customer programs.
The successful candidate will work with the team in a wide variety of tasks ranging from documentation, cost analysis, specification writing and reviews, CAD design, proto builds, manufacturing support and lab test and verification. Good written and oral English Language Skills are essential. This position will give you a significant opportunity to develop and demonstrate your technical skills as well as influencing the lifecycle of the Passport Product.
The following qualifications and experience are mandatory:
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related degree with 1 to 5 years of experience.
